Best of 2013

I have a lot of great memories to look back on this year. 2013 has been my favorite year yet, I probably say that at the end of every year but it's true! New things happen every year that make it just a little bit better than the last. None of these moments are in chronological order! (Oops....)

This year my favorite memory of the whole entire year (or ever for that matter) was sharing an unimaginable experience with my best friend. We met Taylor Swift! Not only met her but her mom personally chose us out of a whole stadium full of people. By far the most memorable moment of my life. What made it even better is that it was with my best friend and we made the best outfits ever!

(P.s. that bruise on my arm is from a lacrosse game earlier that week.)

Another great memory of 2013 was my junior prom! The whole night was great. Perfect dress, fun date, incredible group, amazing dinner put on by our moms and perfect weather! What more could I ask for! Also, I couldn't wait until I saw everyones reaction to how the dance was decorated considering it was beautiful and I spent about 10 hours in our gym with the other two girls on head of the prom committee decorating for it. May I say it looked great!

A trip to Charleston with two of my best friends and a new best friend is certainly at the top of 2013's best moments! My friend Kylie invited me to come to a weekend long music festival with her! She also invited my friend Emily who I've known for years and Kellee who I had just met and have become great friends with! It was one of the best weekends full of music, best friends and shopping. Lots of shopping.
Kellee, Emily, Kylie and me :)

Another highlight was that time we beat our rivals in football... again. Make sure to turn your volume down for this!

The thing I'm most proud of this year is this, my blog. The Girl In Pink! I was finally able to get up the courage to share it with everyone and I am so glad I did! The response I got from this was amazing so I would like to thank everyone who reads this, follows it, likes my page on Facebook or follows me on Instagram. The support is amazing and I can't wait to look back on this post next year to see how far I have come with this blog and see my 2014 bests!

I'm sorry for the lengthy post! I think it was worth it for this one. I hope everyone takes a moment to reflect on their Bests of 2013! Have a happy New Year!

Home for the Holidays

Christmas 2013 has been my favorite yet. My two older sisters came home and it was spent at home catching up with each other and multiple morning Starbucks runs. Somedays WAY too many Friends episodes interrupted with daily trips to Atlanta Bread Company. It was one of the most relaxing Christmas breaks... ever. I think it has something to do with the fact that we're older now, what do I know though?

On Christmas Eve I decorated gingerbread men and put our initials on three of them! I bet you didn't think gingerbread cookies could get any better. But they can as soon you add a monogram. ;)

Christmas morning was so fun! It was full of Santa presents, an amazing breakfast and a few cups of coffee. Then off to Grandma and Grandpa's house we went!

Our personalized gingerbread men :)

#OOTD :: Sea-Sun's Greetings

With only two days until Christmas, I was shocked by the warm weather! It was sunny and 75 on Hilton Head today. On the island the weather tends to be a tad temperamental. Today was a high of 75, and Christmas is supposed to be a high of 48... HHI just can't make up its mind.

Here is my outfit of the day! I wore a gorgeous Devon Baer tartan tunic with my Kate Spade Factory sunnies (similar) and J. Crew flats.

My posts will be less frequent this week considering Christmas is right around the corner! Keep up with my Instagram though! Also, be sure to officially follow my blog! On a computer, go to the top right hand side and click the blue button that says "Join this site." Simply enter your email or Twitter to follow!

Happy Holidays!

The First!

Wednesday I got my first college acceptance!!! I cannot tell you how relieved I am now. The stress I have been going through is gone... for now. A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulder and I can breathe. I cannot express my gratitude to everyone that has been a part of my life these past four years of high school and made it possible for me to be where I am now.

from my Twitter
If I could just give some advice to students going through the same thing. You've done everything you possibly could do to get into the college of your dreams, stressing won't make the letter come any faster. I, myself, haven't received an answer from my number one school. I find out in early April if I will be attending, that's quite awhile away. There is one thing keeping me from making myself ill over waiting for the letter, a friend's experience from last year. She wanted so badly to go to one of our state schools, she was denied she appealed and again, wasn't accepted. You would think this is the biggest nightmare ever. She tells me it was a blessing in disguise. She is so happy where she is and couldn't imagine herself anywhere else.

I find that to put my mind at ease because it really goes to show how everything works out for a reason! I am so thrilled to be accepted into Winthrop University and look forward to the future it may hold for me. I'm most excited about the snow Rock Hill gets! I love snow, although I've only seen it twice.

I'm so happy to have received my first college acceptance and was able to cross number 5 off my 101 things to do in 1001 days list! I hope everyone else going through the college application process is doing well and don't forget to breathe! It will all work out in the end! No matter where you go you are taking a step in the direction to a brighter future.

Friends and Trends :: Lyndsay

My sister, Lyndsay, has great style! She is home for the holidays and I just couldn't resist taking these pictures before she headed out for the night. I may or may not have sprung a mini photo shoot on her. Thankfully she is a fan of The Girl In Pink and agreed :)

She bought the dotted chambray I posted about earlier last week! She looked great in it. She mixed some patterns that I would never think to if I didn't see Lyndsay wearing it. Leopard loafers and polka dots make a great combination! Here are the results of our mini photo shoot!

Lyndsay always looks so classy and put together! You should check her out on Instagram and her Facebook page for her fitness business! Maybe even give it a like ;)

Spots & Dots

This winter I have become obsessed with tights. I mean obsessed. We have a strict dress code at school. It consists of khaki, navy and black pants or skirts and pink, white, blue, or gray shirts. Boring, I know. I found a couple ways around looking so boring everyday... TIGHTS! They are super cute and practical. I have recently become a fan of skirts over pants, more or less because it looks cuter at school when you are limited to about four outfit choices. Adding tights under a skirt is a great way to sneak a design or a pop of color into an otherwise drab outfit. I'm hoping my tight collection grows when I open my presents on Christmas morning! (hi, Mom) My favorites are my gray tights from my last post!

I recently (yesterday) got a pair of Kate Spade tights on super sale! They were marked down to $17 and then an extra 50% off that! How could I not buy them? I wore them today with a pink sweater ballet flats and a J. Crew necklace (similar). The best part (even better then getting them about $9) ... they have polka dots!

Here are some other must have tights

p.s. J. Crew is 30% off in stores and online with code GIFTNOW and you get free shipping!
J. Crew Factory is 50% off everything and FREE shipping on $50+ AND an extra 25% off clearance items with code SALE25

Winter Favorites

This winter I have been obsessed with reds, grays, and tortoise shell! I must admit I wear this outfit to school at least once a week. It's bad... honestly I think it's the most comfortable combination. ever.

Christmas Parties

Every year my parents throw this huge Christmas party, my mom is most likely Christmas's biggest fan! They go all out, tons of food, open bar (complete with bartender), loud as can be Christmas music, and as generous as they are... a new dress for me! It really is one of the best nights of the year.

There is so much spirit at the party and so much fun that it is impossible not to have a good time! The Santa cookies don't hurt either. This year was great because both of my sisters were home and my oldest sister, Lyndsay, had her college roommate, Lillian, come! So the whole family (including Lillian) was together again.

There is something about the holidays that just make everyone happy. My favorite holiday things are; a fresh red manicure, sequins, bows, Christmas trees, tons of lights, and the family being together! Tonight is the night I get all of those at once! My nails have a fresh coat of OPI red, my dress had a perfect bow covered with sequins, my house and Christmas tree were full of lights and all of my family together!

In the past years as the Ogden Christmas Party slows down I put on my pajamas, wash my face, and try to drown out the noise of the last few really spirited guests and drift off to sleep. Tonight, I can blog before hitting the lights! Goodnight. :)

Normal...? We don't know what "normal" is.
